J1
J1 is the 800V sports platform jointly developed by Porsche and Audi that carries the Porsche Taycan and the Audi e-tron GT — the first 800V production platform in the world. When it debuted in 2019, virtually every other EV still charged on 400V; the architecture enabled charging speeds the rest of the market did not reach for years, and laid the foundation for the newer PPE. When buying, pay close attention to the generation and the battery choice: an early Taycan with the small Performance Battery charges slower and travels less far than a car with the large pack or a facelift model.
